Thursday 9th

11.00 - 11.45 Performance Ensemble
'The Promise of a Garden' Video of live performance - Stories - Music - Dance -
Life Art with the Experience of Age - Celebrating Older Artists.

13.00 - 13.45 Irish Singing
Leeds Irish Health and Homes will have a stand that will promote the work of Leeds Irish Health and Homes which is a service that works with both the Irish community and the wider community in Leeds - join in with our sing-song!

Friday 10th

11.00 - 11.45 Ascendance
Please join Ascendance Dance Company for a colourful session with fun sequences and performance extracts that we use in our Dance with Parkinson's programme based on the theme of Peacock. Either watch or take part - there is something for everyone to enjoy. All ages welcome, seated and standing options.

13.00 - 13.45  Yorkshire Dance
The Promise of a Garden - Dance On, group dance.  Older dancers from Yorkshire Dance’s Dance On programme were invited to be part of 'The Promise of a Garden' theatre/dance production by the Performance Ensemble. They worked with choreographer Tamara McLorg and Villmore James to devise and produce a short contemporary dance piece with original music by Christopher Benstead.
Come along and see this work and also a wonderful, uplifting duet featuring Tamara McLorg and Villmore James.
There will be an informal Q&A session after the performances where you can find
out more about the process, experience and reflections of the dancers.

15.00 - 15.30 Bramley Elderly Action - Ukulele session
A performance from "The Ukulele Shape Shifters" followed by a short workshop where people can have a go at playing the ukulele and singing.
Adapted ukuleles will be available for those with limited dexterity.
Saturday 11th

11.00 - 11.45 AVSED Dance through the Decades
Starting with a video to be shown of last years IDOP event on the big screen. Followed by a live - small interactive performance of a part routine from the show. Featuring AVSED dancers and encouraging any willing participants at the show to join in. Easy to follow moves and uplifting music presented by the choreographer who designed the original video.

13.00 - 13.45 Collingham Wind Band
Collingham Band will play a selection of popular music as visitors move around the museum. We will have a small display of Band activities encouraging participation by older people who may wish to return to playing the wind or brass instruments of their younger days. Many of our members are aged over 60 and we welcome intermediate standard players of all ages.

15.00 - 15.30 Strike a Pose - Red Carpet Realness**
Yorkshire Dance want to encourage older people to stay visible, vibrant and reject beige slacks/cardigans and the pull of the sofa. As part of the Age Proud Festival you will have an opportunity to see our older dancers performing and the chance to strut your stuff on the red carpet. Glam’ma’s, elegant elders, retired rockers and punk pensioners – wanted. Come along, strut your stuff and strike a pose!
** Workshop - 12.30 -2.30pm.  As part of the experience Choreographer TC Howard will work with you in the Denny Room to develop your inner diva, grandest gent and sassy self. Come along to practice your walk & pose, pick up a costume and prepare to strut your stuff down the catwalk.

Tai Chi - Slow, controlled movement with Health for All

14.00 - 14.45 Bibliotherapy

In this group session Words For Wellbeing  will use prose, poetry, song

lyrics as a jumping off􀉡 point to discuss life in all it’s sham and glory. The theme will be 'Food' and participants are welcome to bring along something to read out (or to give to Julie to read out on their behalf).

The session will be friendly, informal and amusing. You don't need to be an afficionado of poetry or literature to join in - everyone eats, and this session will recall both the good, the bad and the inedible food we've encountered in our lives.

Friday 10th 

12.00 - 12.45 Association of Blind Asians - YOGA
A fun and exciting yoga session that will help you to keep active and connect with others. It will help with any stress and anxieties you may be feeling and will leave you feeling relaxed and calm. The yoga session will help you look after your body and mind making you happy and content. Yoga will be light and will suit everyone.

14.00 - 14.45 Teresa's poetry workshop - Leeds Irish Health and Homes
People will be very welcome to recite poetry from our recent Anthology Corona Ceoil and also the very popular Trojan Donkey.

Saturday 11th

12.00 - 12.45 Performance Ensemble - Get involved in 2023

14.00 - 14.45 Spontaneous
 Poetry Workshop
In this 1 hour session Si Pi will ask for the help of attendees in writing a mini-anthology of poems about the positives of getting older. These poems will be 100% spontaneous and directly reflect the attitudes of the people present towards age. All attendees will have the option of a hard or e-copy of the mini anthology, delivered at a later date.
Si Pi has Been creating spontaneous poems for the public for almost 10 years. From the streets on Brixton to the residential homes of the Yorkshire Dales, Si will always find time to rhyme.

  • Friendly Communities Project. Come and meet the Friendly Communities Team and members of the Age Friendly Leeds Steering Group. Find out how we are working together to make Leeds an Age and Dementia Friendly city. Take part in our Age Proud quiz, tell us one good thing about ageing and celebrate an older person! Sign up as an Age Friendly Ambassador and get involved in the Age Proud Leeds campaign.

  • HOME Group. We will be promoting the new community wellbeing services being built in the city. People will be able to see details of the services, speak to colleagues and to take information and application forms away.

  • Care Delivery Service (Thursday only) Advice and information about our services Various wellbeing activities throughout the day Recruitment of volunteers.

  • Full Circle (Friday only)

  • AVSED (Saturday only) AVSED will be attending the whole day with an information stand promoting and advertising our organisation. Showcasing the activities and services available in our area and signposting to other NNSs in the relevant areas of Leeds to all attendees.

  • Yorkshire Dance is a charity & part of Arts Council England’s National Portfolio. We champion the value of dance and its development in Yorkshire, creating opportunities for people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities to see, make and take part in high quality dance. Our work with older adults is recognised nationally, recently wining the One Dance UK Advocacy Award 2020. We are passionate about connecting with our communities, inviting people onto the dance floor, staying active, being expressive and defying stereotypes around ageing. Find out more about our work, pick up a free Dance On DVD, chat to our team and discover how to keep dancing whatever your age!

  • LIP stall consists of information share, giveaway sweet stand, affirmation jar (a star wins a prize!), A chance to meet and Q&A staff and members of LIP  and INVOLVEMENT opportunities.

  • LIHH Leeds Irish Health and Homes will have a stand that will promote the work of Leeds Irish Health and Homes which is a service that works with both the Irish community and the wider community in Leeds and is a service that is inclusive of older people. There will be lots of service literature available. Along with some Irish food. We will also be promoting the work of our cultural programme through showcasing pieces such as the shawl and the work from give me your hand that we celebrated on International day of older people. We will be sharing work from our successful poetry programme

  • Health for All (Thursday only)Arm and hand massage, foot massage, nail treatments and hair techniques.

  • Crossgates Friends and Neighbours (Friday only)

  •  Leeds U3A and Cookridge & Horsforth U3A (Saturday only)  A self-help organisation for people no longer in full-time employment.  Aim to facilitate leisure, creative and educational activities in friendly and relaxed environments. Our stall will try to promote the organisation. There will be leaflets and a PowerPoint slide show.

  • PINGPONG4U(Saturday only) We will play inclusive, engaging adapted ping pong activities.

  • Seacroft Women's Health Group (Thursday only) We will be sharing our ideas for activities and discussions around mental health and wellbeing, and showcasing some of the fascinating objects in the Mental Health Museum's collections. We are putting together an activity pack and we need your feedback!

  • Leeds Civic Trust Find out more about our collaboration with Time to Shine & Leeds Older People's Forum as we bring benches to the streets of Leeds. Share with us the importance of a place to sit, of having somewhere to meet outdoors, and what a comfortable bench looks like to you.
