Event: An afternoon tea event to learn all about how the Shared Tables events have added to their local communities

Do you love to chat with friends over a meal? Most of us do, but many of us feel shy about heading to the pub for dinner on our own. Join us to find out more about a innovative scheme to help more people get together and make new friends over dinner like this.

Shared Tables, where single people were able to share a meal out together, proved really popular in Crossgates and have since spread across the city. Unable to meet during much of the pandemic, the linchpins of the Shared Tables experience, the volunteer table hosts are keen to get back to it. If you’d like to know more about how it works and whether you might be able to organise something similar for your area or organisation there’s a toolkit you can use to help you set things up. You will share a table with 6 others and have a chance to chat to some other people as well as asking volunteer table hosts and participants all about it.

You will served a simple cold tea, with cake, and lots of hot tea.. Looking forward to meeting you there

Event: The Purple List a gay dementia venture

After booking you'll be sent a link to watch the play on Youtube and should then join us for the live Q&A on 23rd.

It is a 35 minute, one-man play. It opens on Sam and Derek’s wedding day and goes on to explore the highs and lows of their lives as Derek’s dementia progresses.

Told from Sam’s point of view, the play is a touching, sad, yet often funny, insight into the lives of these two gay men as they navigate their way through the care system and the changes in their personal relationship. A stand-alone piece of theatre that can also be used as a training tool in a range of issues regarding dementia and diversity for those working in social care and for those caring for, or involved with people living with dementia.

The play hopes to raise awareness around the potential issues for those caring for someone with dementia in general, and the barriers to support which members of the gay community may perceive and experience. If you'd like to know more have a look on the website purplelisttheatre

This a film version of The Purple List, which will be accompanied by a live digital Q&A on 23rd September
