Event: Rachel's Friday fun dance class

Rachel’s classes are all about having fun, being silly, socialising and meeting new people. The classes are inspired by different styles of dance, such as street dance, pop, ballet, salsa and rock and roll. She also focuses on co-ordination and footwork to get the brain ticking away. This class has a wide range of music styles, there is something for everyone to enjoy. Singing along with Rachel is also very welcome! Rachel has a person-centred approach to teaching and tailors her classes as much as possible to the individual people she is teaching. Participants can follow the moves or simply choose to do their own thing. All participants have the choice to do the class standing or seated, you can do as much or as little as you like!

Event: Online introduction to 5Rhythms - a different kind of dance class.

5Rhythms is a physical movement practice, that also gets our hearts and minds moving. It's a great thing to try if: - You want to get more exercise

- You feel like you're repeating the same patterns over and over

- You want to open up to your own creativity

- You feel like you need more connection (with yourself or others)

- You're ready for something to change

There's no steps or routines to learn, but there is a structure within which we all create our own dance. There's also some great music to inspire us. It is suitable for people of all shapes, sizes and ages.

The class is held by accredited 5Rhythms teacher Ben Deutsch, who also holds regular classes in Leeds and online. This online class is being put on specially as part of Age Proud Festival Leeds. The class will begin with a physical check-in, paying attention to different parts of the body. We'll then explore the rhythms of Flowing (continuous movement), Staccato (clarity of expression), Chaos (releasing fixed patterns), Lyrical (lightening up) and Stillness (being present in each moment).
